About this objectThe pocket candlestick, 'a Soldier's Friend', was used by soldiers in field camp during WWI. The lid depicts a painted photograph of three soldiers using the pocket candlestick while in camp.
From investigation on the internet the Camp Pocket Candlesticks were on sale in Australia to their troops before embarking overseas.

Inscription and MarksOn the bottom of the tin is the patent number '16856' and date patented as '19-7-15'.
