About this objectPostcard; a postcard embroidered with an image of a church, surrounded in flowers above the words: "God be with you till we meet again". Sent during World War One by Private Peter Hugh Ayson, of Dunedin. The card is inscribed:
"Somewhere in France, October 25th.
Christmas Greetings and kindest regards to all, with special to Mr and Mrs J Fleming. Both well - will probably be in the firing line in a few days.
From Pvt P H Ayson."
Private Ayson was killed in action in Belgium, in August of 1917.
